Lets Promote - Linguisitc brotherhood and not Linguisitic Big-brotherhood

Tamil or Saṃskṛta - Which is the oldest Language !

Our Honourable PM Shri Narendra Modi ji has stated in a recent event that Tamil is older than Saṃskṛta. It has disappointed me. I, as a Samskritist, but a person with Tamil as mother tongue, feel that this could have been avoided.

In this connection I would like present two views for reflection, both connected with Shri Deendayal Upadhyaya, a fine thinker, one among the founding fathers of Jan Sangh and whom Shri Modiji himself considers as his guiding light -

1. The first image - A screen shot of Tamilnadu Governer Shri Banvari Lal Purohiot's address in a recent Tamil-Sanskrit Dcitionary release function, held in Chennai. Honorable TN Governer states that "it is the dream of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya that we should work towards national integration through linguistic brother-hood."

What a wonderful thought. When we have "Nation first" as the mantra/policy - then would it not be appropriate to promote linguistic brotherhood? And not encourage big-brotherhood by avoiding the path of getting into rhetoric related to antiquity of languages (which has not been settled conclusively) that adversely impacts national integration!

The full texts of TN Governer's speech can be seen here - http://www.tnrajbhavan.gov.in/Speeches/2018/Sp230118.pdf

2. The second image is from the book -Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (p.60) - in the Builders of Modern India Series -  published by Publications Division of the Government of India (Reprint 2015) by Mahesh Chandra Sharma. The content in the image is self explanatory on the issue of which is the oldest language - Saṃskṛta or the Southern Languages.
